Editorial Policy
The rules every guide on this website is written under — and the standard readers should hold us to.
Editorial independence
Content is not altered because a company pays for leads. Commercial arrangements (described in How We Make Money) never dictate what a guide says.
Source hierarchy
Government and primary sources first: Medicare.gov, Medicaid.gov, VA.gov, CDC, ADA.gov, and manufacturer documentation for product claims. Published national research (with named methodology) for cost data. Anecdote and marketing copy are not sources.
Government sources for benefits
Every statement about Medicare, Medicaid, or VA coverage traces to the relevant government source, is dated, and avoids guarantees — eligibility always depends on individual circumstances.
Cost methodology
Cost figures are published national planning ranges with named sources and check dates — never quotes, never guarantees. When sources disagree, we show the disagreement and explain it.
No fabricated anything
No invented reviews, testimonials, experts, authors, reviewers, ratings, awards, or statistics. Author and reviewer credits appear only when a named person has actually done the work — where no verified professional review exists, no reviewer credit is shown at all, rather than a placeholder or a “pending” notice.
No pay-to-rank without disclosure
Comparisons are not ordered by who pays. If a placement is ever sponsored, it is labeled.
Editorial vs. advertising
Editorial content and anything commercial are visually and structurally distinct. Lead forms and referral CTAs are clearly what they are.
AI-assisted drafting with human review
Drafting may be AI-assisted; every published page requires human editorial review before it goes live, and claims are verified against their sources by a person.
No placeholder publishing
Incomplete pages stay unpublished (noindex, hidden from indexes) until they are substantive and sourced. We do not publish thin pages to hold search positions.
Updating dated information
Cost data, program rules, and coverage details carry “last checked” dates and are rechecked on a schedule — dated information is corrected or removed.
Conflicts of interest
Anyone contributing to a guide must disclose financial interests in companies mentioned. Undisclosed conflicts are treated as a corrections matter.
Corrections
Errors are corrected visibly under the Corrections Policy — material corrections carry an update note on the page.
